New Xbox To Not Allow Used-Game Playing ?

Could the Next Gen Xbox prevent you from playing new games ?
According To Kotaku, the next xbox, perhaps the Xbox 720, will incorporate some type of technology that will restrict you from playing used games. They're not sure as to how it would be set up, and if you will be able to play used games at all.

Cnet is reporting that one theory is that a game would be linked to a specific Xbox Live Account, therfore only the original owner could play it, though anyone can get around this by simply not playing online. Also, how would this affect game renting services such as Gamefly Blockbuster, and video store like Family Video ?

Of course, this is not confirmed by any means, and i seriously doubt that Microsoft would be so dumb as to do this, as this will only lead to protests and strikes against the company and Xbox, as we've seen lately with all the SOPA Supporters. I believe Microsoft would face the same treatment from consumers if it says used games are no longer playable.
